Hello

Derek Tompkins began his ministry at CCC in November of 2021 bringing much experience working with children and youth and their families. He studied in 4 different theological programs and graduated from Brite Divinity School with a Master of Divinity in 2015. He is also passionate about camping ministry and has spent 20 years volunteering to work with youth at Disciples Crossing in Athens. Derek and wife, Robin, have one son and make their home in Arlington for the time being.

My Story

I have been married to my love, Robin, for 30 years, and our son, Xander, is our great joy. With them I feel complete. It has been over 40 years since I first felt the call to ministry. During that time I have worked for churches for more than 20 years. I believe we are only whole when we belong to a community, a family, and that the love of God for every person, for exactly who they are, is our guide to finding and creating our community of faith.

Teaching seekers, of whatever age, that they are a beloved child of God, who gifted them with the unique identity and gifts that make their communities more whole, is where I find purpose and satisfaction. Getting to share the life of faith in community with them is where I am humbled and honored. That has been and is my life’s work.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace.
