Hello

Reverend Dan Simmons was installed as our Senior Minister in the fall of 2020. Dan was commissioned as a minister in the Disciples of Christ in 2014 to serve as the Faith Development Minister at CCC. Returning to school after many decades, he graduated with a Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity School (TCU) in December of 2019 and was ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in March of 2020. He and wife Melisa have four adult children and 5 beautiful grandchildren.

My Story

“Christianity is one beggar telling another beggar where he found bread.”     - D.T. Niles

It was a long and winding road that led me to the doors of CCC. On March 15, 2008, I ‘let go and let God’ and started a life of long-term recovery after many years of suffering from substance use disorder. Very early in recovery, I made a personal vow to learn more about this God who saw fit to extend a hand of grace and not let me perish. The more I poured myself into discovering God and who God has created me to be, the more I came to realize that I was experiencing true joy and peace more frequently than I ever had before.

That D.T. Niles quote neatly sums up my philosophy of our faith. Accepting that God’s love, grace, and mercy is freely given to all of creation through Jesus Christ is a life-changing truth that, if we dare to believe it, will transform everything we think we know about God, ourselves, and each other. This is the bread of life that we are looking for, and my greatest joy is sharing with others where I found it.
